When to use it

Use agent-bridge when you explicitly want another agent, such as Claude Code, Codex, or Gemini, to work through its own harness. It supports a second opinion as well as delegation of a concrete implementation task.

How it works

Figure 01

Delegate a bounded change, then inspect the patch.

  1. Scope

Authorize the peer, context, task, and allowed paths.

  2. Delegate

Let the peer work in an isolated local clone.

  3. Review

Inspect and verify the scoped patch before integration.

ResultA digest-locked patch for local review
This shows delegate mode. Consult mode instead returns a read-only assessment. The calling agent keeps responsibility for the task.

Consult mode asks the peer for read-only analysis and checks whether the active workspace changed during the run. The calling agent still owns the task and evaluates the response.

Delegate mode requires an authorized implementation, a clean exact base, and allowed paths. The peer works in an isolated local clone and returns a digest-locked patch. Its paths are checked against the allowed scope, and the calling agent reviews every change before integration.

An example request

Ask your agent

“Ask Claude to review the retry design. Give it the relevant module and tests, keep the consultation read-only, and assess its findings before changing anything.”

This illustrates a request you can adapt; it is not a transcript of a completed run.

A separate assessment or a scoped patch that you can inspect and verify as part of the original task.

Install and use

The skill’s identifier is agent-bridge. It ships in the agent-bridge plugin. In Claude Code, first add the Overclock marketplace, then install the package:

/plugin install agent-bridge@overclock

For a standalone installation, keep the skill directory and its bundled resources together. The repository also includes per-skill Codex metadata. Read the full skill instructions for its exact workflow and supporting files.

What to keep in mind

The requested peer must be installed and usable. The bridge does not silently switch providers or automatically commit a delegated change.

Sharing context with another provider needs authorization for that scoped material. Isolation and path checks do not replace that decision or the final review.

  • Critical thinking — Test a proposal’s assumptions before accepting its conclusion.
  • Independent research — Get a separate, bounded reading of local evidence for a specific question.
